News

Thank You for Your Support of the Tee Off for PSF Community Center!

Thank you to all who were involved in the 2024 Tee Off for PSF Community Center. The event, which took place on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Sandy Burr Country Club, was well attended with more than 100 golfers participating! It was a fun day on the links followed by dinner, drinks, and prizes.

Congrats to Joe Nuccio, Connor Mar, Mike Herd and Mike Camus– the Winning Foursome!  Congrats to Conor Marr and Brit Kirsh, who won Closest to the Pin, and Nathaniel W. and Teri Sullivan who won Longest Drive. Jim Prince, Doris Prince, Tom O’Brien, and Fiona O’Brien were recognized as the Most Honest Foursome. Tim Shepard won the Air Cannon game and Ying Jun Wei won the 50/50 raffle prize. Many others took home prizes from our raffle and auction!

First and foremost a fundraiser, the golf tournament raised more than $28,000 to support the PSF Community Center.

Thanks to funding from the Tee Off for PSF Community Center, more than 60 nonprofits and civic groups offering free services utilize our community rooms at no cost each year. For groups like the Girl Scouts, Cancer Support Community, and the Boston Police Department, PSF Community Center provides an essential service—offering space for meetings, programs for at-risk youth, art therapy for cancer survivors, and more. In a diverse neighborhood where many nonprofits have been displaced because of escalating rents and development, PSF Community Center is widely regarded as an important resource.

Thank you to all who supported our event!

Meet Benny Ames

My name is Benny Ames and I am PSF’s outreach intern this year! As well as interning at PSF, I am currently working towards getting my Master’s degree in Social Work at Boston University. I come from Ashland, Massachusetts and earned my Bachelor’s in Social Work at Westfield State University. I am excited to assimilate myself more with Boston and finally get to live in this amazing city. I have several goals for my time here at PSF. First of all, I would like to make a positive impact on the Allston-Brighton community by helping organize events and programs that go towards giving as many people access to resources that will improve their lives. Secondly, I am eager to learn more about the operation of non profit organizations as I continue to work in this field for my professional career. I am looking forward to meeting and working alongside as many community members as I can while I am at PSF. I am motivated to do anything I can to help this community grow, so please let me know any ideas on how you believe I could help support the people of Allston-Brighton!

Meet Lance!

Hi my name is Lance Gordon and I have recently joined the PSF team as an intern from Boston University School of Social Work. I am in my first year at BU in hopes to obtain my Masters in Macro Social Work. I graduated from the University of South Carolina in May of 2019 with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. I then moved to Seattle to work with City Year AmeriCorps. That was an amazing opportunity solidifying my passion for this field of work. I had the privilege of working in a school community and supporting the students and families within the school. I am excited to be working at PSF because I am very interested in community grassroots work and agencies. Looking forward to a great year at PSF Community Center supporting the Allston Brighton community!

Will You Attend a Winter Farmers Market? Tell Us What You Think!

Visit the Ellie DeLuco Memorial Garden

This lovely garden at The Presentation School Foundation Community Center, planted by the Brighton Garden and Horticultural Society; Brighton, MA, was dedicated to Ellie DeLuco, who recently passed away at the age of 88. Ellie was a long time member of the Oak Square community and neighborhood volunteer and activist- with many organizations and causes that she gave her time and energy to- the Friends of the Oak Square Common, the Friends of Faneuil Library, the Brighton Garden Club, the Brighton Allston Historical Society, and the Dunboy Street Association, to name a few. Given her love of flowers, gardening, and Oak Square, it seemed natural to dedicate this beautiful little garden in her memory.
