Our Mission
To provide educational and community services that strengthen Boston’s diverse Allston-Brighton neighborhood.
Who We Are
The Presentation School Foundation is a community-based organization formed to support educational, health and community services for children and families. The Foundation Board is composed of residents, community leaders and local business owners.
Our Goal
Our founding goal was to purchase and convert the former Our Lady of the Presentation School property into a community-based education center and cornerstone of a “Community Campus” in historic Oak Square offering youth and family services in cooperation with the Oak Square YMCA and the Faneuil branch of the Boston Public Library.
In 2011 we achieved this goal with the opening of Center. In the years since, we have completed the renovation and conversion of the building, and with the continuing support of the community, local and state government, and local businesses and financial institutions, put the Foundation on a solid financial and organizational footing so that the Center can continue to serve as a community anchor for generations to come.
Our Blueprint
By encouraging participation across the community, we seek to create a comprehensive set of coordinated services that promote family and community stability. Working with our multiple partners, including Little Sprouts Childhood Enrichment Centers, St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, the Brighton-Allston Afterschool Enrichment Program, WGBH, the Oak Square YMCA and the Faneuil Branch of the Boston Public Library, we will create an Oak Square Campus for Youth and Families.
The newly renovated PSF Community Center will provide a range of services for children and families, including:
- An affordable daycare and preschool
- Community health programs
- After-school programs
- Educational enrichment programs in science, math, reading and writing, and media literacy for children (in partnership with WGBH)
- Adult Education programs, including ESOL classes for recent immigrants
